Republic Bike has a fun site that allows you to design your own Dutch bike, choosing from a wide range of colors. For $399, they’ll ship the bike to your door (+$49 shipping).
It seems like a good deal for a super fun bike, assuming the level of quality is acceptable. I’d love to hear firsthand experience from anyone that would like to share!

If you’re going to be in Los Angeles between now and August 7th, be sure not to miss “Scion Presents: Ed Emberley & Friends” at Scion Installation L.A.!
From the website:
“Ed Emberley’s legendary drawing books inspired a generation of kids to become artists. In this show, Ed Emberley displays his original 1970s mockups alongside five grown-up artists who were influenced by him.
Curated by Caleb Neelon, the exhibition features Ed Emberley as well as five artists who were inspired by him. The artists include Raul Gonzalez, Seonna Hong, Matt Leines, Christopher Kline and Saelee Oh.
For ‘Ed Emberley & Friends,’ each artist will create a six-foot-by-six-foot wood panel that is a mash-up of their own style and that of Ed Emberley’s instructional drawing books. The tribute paintings will be exhibited alongside examples o each artist’s individual work. After the show, each o the large painted panels will be donated for long-term display in children’s hospitals around the United States.”

A lovely vintage Naef Spiel puzzle purchased by Jenn Ski at a flea market for $1. Great find!

Designer Elad Kashi decided to entirely forgo the traditional place setting with TableSet, crafting the top from removable ceramic plates that make it easy and convenient to clean. At the end of the meal, you simply put the table in the dishwasher.
I love the character of our old farm table, but cleaning the crevices is a major chore after the little ones finishing eating. How wonderful it would be to simply toss the entire table in the sink after dinner!

Five water-soluble chalk crayons enable children to draw their imaginary world on this wonderful set of maple blocks by Naef. Each block is varnished with blackboard paint–a quick wipe with a wet sponge and the blocks are ready for something else.
Self-drawn alphabet blocks would be a wonderful way to learn letters!
